It seems like every major Hollywood studio either has or is developing a ?fast car? franchise. Universal has the immensely popular Fast and the Furious series; DreamWorks has the upcoming Need for Speed adaptation; and Legendary is looking to bring a Hot Wheels movie to the big screen. With this in mind, Sony has decided to throw its hat into the ring with Gran Turismo.
The Wrap is reporting that Sony has enlisted the help of the Oscar nominated producing duo Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti ? who are also producig the upcoming Fifty Shades of Grey movie ? to adapt the best selling video game. De Luca and Brunetti also produced Sony?s 2010 hit film The Social Network, which earned the team Oscar nods.
The biggest selling franchise for Playstation, the Grand Turismo series has sold more than 70 million games worldwide over the course of five primary releases and eight secondary releases. The franchise?s latest installment, Gran Turismo 6, is due out later this year for Playstation 3. The series is the brainchild of Polyphony Digital and professional racecar driver Kazunori Yamauchi.
Unlike other racing video games, the Gran Turismo franchise has actual ties within the real-life racing community. In fact, the series has sponsored numerous racing teams such as Pescarolo Sport, Audi/Oreca, Peugeot, Audi A4, Vita4OneBMW Z4, Aston Martin Rapide and Signatech-Nissan.
The game has also been involved with the Pebble Beach Concours d?Elegance ? which is an annual automotive charity event ? since 2008. Each year, Yamauchi is invited to the prestigious event to present the Gran Turismo Trophy to those who ?make efforts to preserve irreplaceable, precious automotive culture for future generations to come.? Aside from receiving a trophy, the winners are featured in the Gran Turismo series.
As previously mentioned, there is no lack of ?fast car? films in the works. Following the success of Fast & Furious 6, which took in $712 million worldwide, Universal has announced that production on a seventh film will start next month.
The folks over at DreamWorks are currently filming Need for Speed, which will be released in March 2014. Based on the video game of the same name, Need for Speed stars Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Michael Keaton (The Other Guys), Dominic Cooper (Captain America), and Imogen Poots (Fright Night).
Not to mention, Legendary Pictures is currently developing a Hot Wheels movie.
Are you excited for a possible Gran Turismo movie or are you tired of the recent rash of racing movies?

George Washington was inaugurated as president in 1789 with one tooth in his mouth, a lower left bicuspid. The "Father of His Country" had sets of false teeth that were made of everything but wood, from elephant ivory and walrus tusk to the teeth of a fellow human. Darnton aargues that the Enlightenment had false teeth also - that it was not the "Father of the Modern World", responsible for all its advances and transgressions.

CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida | Tue Jul 9, 2013 1:13pm EDT
CAPE CANAVERAL, Florida (Reuters) - Two astronauts left the International Space Station on Tuesday for a day of maintenance tasks, including installing a power cable needed for a new Russian laboratory due to arrive later this year.
Veteran NASA astronaut Christopher Cassidy and rookie partner Luca Parmitano, the first Italian to make a spacewalk, left the station's Quest airlock shortly after 8 a.m. EDT as the orbital outpost sailed about 260 miles over the Arabian Sea.
"Have fun out there," crewmate Karen Nyberg radioed from inside the station, a $100 billion research complex owned by the United States, Russia, Japan and 11 European nations, including Italy.
Cassidy's first task was to replace a failed backup component of the station's Ku-band communications system, restoring redundancy.
Parmitano, meanwhile, maneuvered himself to the right side of the station's solar power truss to pick up a pair of science experiments that will be returned to Earth aboard a future Space Exploration Technologies' cargo ship.
The privately owned California-based company, also known as SpaceX, is one of two U.S. firms hired by NASA to fly cargo to the station following the retirement of the space shuttles in 2011.
SpaceX's Dragon cargo capsules, which also are being developed to fly astronauts, are the only ones that return to Earth. Other cargo ships, including those flown by Russia, Europe and Japan, incinerate in the atmosphere after they leave the station.
The spacewalkers' to-do list also included repositioning some equipment delivered aboard a Dragon capsule in March. The gear - two grapple bars - may be needed by future spacewalkers tasked to remove station radiator panels.
Cassidy, who was making his fifth spacewalk, installed a power and data cable from the station's Unity connecting node to the Russian part of the International Space Station, completing one of the main goals of the outing.
The cable is part of a system that will be needed for a new Russian multi-purpose laboratory called Nauka that is due to launch later this year.
The new module will replace Russia's Pirs airlock, as well as serve as a research laboratory and berthing port. Russian cosmonauts will install the rest of the cable during a future spacewalk.
Cassidy and Parmitano have a follow-up spacewalk themselves next week to re-route cables that control the station's electrical system.

Governments have reacted strongly to the clashes between Egyptian troops and supporters of the ousted president Mohammed Morsi that have left dozens dead.
TURKEY
Turkey's Islamic-rooted government, which had formed an alliance with the ousted Islamist leader and has criticized his overthrow, was quick to condemn the killings. Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu tweeted: "I strongly condemn the massacre that took place at morning prayers in the name of basic human values."
He added: "A political normalization process that respects the will of the Egyptian people must begin"
BRITAIN
Britain called for movement toward free and fair elections and agreement on a democratic constitution, and called on Egyptian authorities to carry out an investigation into the events that led to the deaths. "There is an urgent need for calm and restraint," said Foreign Secretary William Hague.
PALESTINIANS
The Hamas militant group condemned the killings and expressed "extreme pain and grief for the falling of these victims," but stopped short of taking sides in the unfolding crisis in its neighbor. While identifying ideologically with Morsi, Hamas also maintains ties with Egyptian security forces that patrol the border with Gaza.
QATAR
The wealthy Gulf nation, a main backer of Morsi's government, expressed "great concern" over the deadly clashes and urged authorities to guarantee the "rights and protections" for all groups to express their views. The official Qatar News Agency, quoting an unnamed official, urged for political dialogue in Egypt, but made no mention of appeals by Morsi's backers for his return to power.
Qatar also has not made any public statements on the status of its pledges to the Morsi government, which included up to $21 billion in investment and economic aid over the next five years.
GERMANY
The German Foreign Ministry said it was "dismayed" over reports of violence and called for a "speedy clarification" by an independent body into the events surrounding the latest killings. The ministry also advised that travel to Egypt except for the Red Sea and Sinai beaches was strongly discouraged.

THL is a name that makes us cringe whenever we come across it, not only because its logo is clearly "inspired" by HTC's older counterpart, but more so because it's been shamelessly cloning designs from the likes of HTC, LG and Samsung. Alas, these KIRF phones sell well in China, thus letting THL rapidly expand its retail business in recent years -- there are now a handful of THL stores in Shenzhen alone. But today, the company finally has something worth writing about: the Android 4.2.2-powered W11 aka "Monkey King" (a main character from the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West).

The Assembly's Utilities and Commerce Committee voted at the end of last mother to approve the legislation by Senator Lois Wolk, D-Solano, to establish a program that would open access to the state's renewable programs. The bill, SB43, will next be heard in the Assembly's Appropriations Committee.
"Three out of four Californians have a strong interest in buying clean energy, and pay into programs to support renewable energy programs, but aren't able to install their own solar unit or other renewable power generation system for a variety of reasons," Wolk said in a press release. "The innovative program established by this measure will give consumers the option of utilizing renewable energy generated off site. It will help the state meet its renewable energy goals while creating thousands of jobs and encouraging more investment in an important sector of our state's economy. And it won't require any state funds or shift costs to consumers who choose not to participate."
SB 43 establishes a program that provides local governments, businesses, schools, homeowners, municipal customers, renters, and other customers of the state's three largest investor-owned utilities with the opportunity to buy a portion of the energy generated at an off-site renewable
energy facility. Consumers who participate in the program will be able to save on their utility bills, because it costs less for a larger centralized installation to produce energy than it does for a small private installation."SB 43 is groundbreaking," said Susannah Churchill with the Vote Solar Initiative. "It will offer thousands of renters and other Californians the chance to use 100 percent renewable energy for the very first time."
"SB 43 will not only meet the goals of California's current Renewables Portfolio Standard, it will bring much-needed clean energy into areas that need it most," said Strela Cervas with the California Environmental Justice Alliance. "The communities I work in suffer alarming rates of premature death, asthma, lost work days, and respiratory related absences. We need to direct more local renewable energy into low-income communities of color that are impacted first and worst from climate change, while creating sustainable long-term clean energy careers in these communities. SB 43 begins to address this green divide by giving low-income communities access to green energy."
Among those to benefit from SB 43 would be the state's millions of renters, who are currently unable to install their own on-site energy generation system because they don't own their home or apartment. Business owners who lease stores or offices, and face a similar problem, would also benefit.
SB 43 also removes significant obstacles that deter schools and local governments from pursuing off-site renewable energy opportunities--and would support the military's work to ensure national security by allowing the use of empty land in the military's possession to provide energy for off-base facilities.

LAC-MEGANTIC, Que. ? A large swath of a Quebec town was destroyed on Saturday after a train derailment sparked several explosions and a blaze that sent spectacular flames shooting metres into the sky.
Up to 1,000 people were forced from their homes in Lac-Megantic, about 250 kilometres east of Montreal.
Some people were reported missing, although Quebec provincial police Lt. Michel Brunet said it was too early to say if there were casualties.
Flames and billowing smoke could be seen several hours after the derailment, which involved a 73-car train carrying crude oil.
Authorities set up perimeters as firefighters battled to douse the persistent blaze which was still going despite a steady drizzle.
Worried residents looked on behind the perimeters amid fears some of their friends and loved ones may have died in bars and in their homes after the derailment, which occurred shortly after 1 a.m.
"We're told some people are missing but they may just be out of town or on vacation," Brunet told a news conference.
"We're checking all that, so I can't tell you at the moment whether there are any victims or people who are injured."
Bernard Demers, who owns a restaurant in the town of 6,000, had his home evacuated.
"Early this morning (there was) a big explosion like an atomic bomb," he said in an interview. "It was very hot.... Everybody was afraid."
He said the area was probably bustling on a gorgeous summer night.
"On a beautiful evening like this with the bar, there were a lot of people there. It was a big explosion. It's a catastrophe. It's terrible for the population."
Demers has lived in Lac-Megantic for 45 years and describes the community as a "nice town."
"Everybody is very friendly... It's like a small village. A beautiful town but now it won't be the same."
A Facebook group was quickly set up to help people track down loved ones who couldn't be reached by phone.
A woman offering to locate people at an emergency centre set up at the local high school received hundreds of requests for help.
Lac-Megantic resident Claude Bedard described the scene of the explosions as "dreadful."
"It's terrible," Bedard said. "We've never seen anything like it. The Metro store, Dollarama, everything that was there is gone."
Some of the train's 73 cars exploded and the fire, which could be seen for several kilometres, spread to a number of homes.
"The flames in the sky were really impressive," said resident Pierre Lebeau.
A large but undetermined amount of fuel also spilled into the Chaudiere River.
Several neighbouring municipalities, including Sherbrooke and Saint-Georges-de-Beauce, were enlisted to help Lac-Megantic deal with the disaster.
Emergency services south of the border were also lending a hand.
A fleet of fire trucks were deployed from northern Maine, according to a spokesman at the sheriff's office in Franklin County.
The train belongs to Montreal Maine & Atlantic, which says on its website that it owns more than 800 kilometres of track serving Maine, Vermont, Quebec and New Brunswick.
The train was reportedly heading toward Maine.
The cause of the derailment was not immediately known.
Prime Minister Stephen Harper expressed his concern on Twitter.
"Thoughts & prayers are with those impacted in Lac Megantic," he tweeted. "Horrible news."
Environment Quebec spokesman Christian Blanchette said the 73 cars were filled with crude oil and that four were damaged by fire and the explosions.
"Right now, there is big smoke in the air, so we have a mobile laboratory here to monitor the quality of the air," Blanchette said in an interview.
"We also have a spill on the lake and the river that is concerning us. We have advised the local municipalities downstream to be careful if they take their water from the Chaudiere River."
The explosions attracted worldwide media coverage, with the story trending as the most popular international story on the BBC's website as well as featuring on other sites including Le Monde's.

NEW YORK, NY ? Oil prices reached their highest point in more than a year Friday, driven by anxiety over a military coup in Egypt.
U.S. oil futures for the August contract rose $1.98, or nearly 2%, to settle at $103.22 a barrel. That?s the highest closing price since May 2, 2012, when oil settled at $105.22 per barrel.
The Egyptian army seized control of the government Wednesday amid violent protests, deposing the country?s first democratically elected president, Mohamed Morsy of the Muslim Brotherhood. On Friday, the African Union announced that it was suspending Egypt.
Egypt produces a negligible amount of oil. But the Suez Canal, which passes through the north African nation, is a major thoroughfare for oil shipping that links the Mediterranean Sea with the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf.
?I think most folks don?t believe that violence in Egypt is going to cause a shutdown of the Suez Canal,? said Tom Kloza, chief oil analyst for Gasbuddy.com.
But he also said that military coups make traders nervous about energy supply, prompting them to buy oil and drive up prices.
Oil was on the rise even before the Egyptian coup. Oil prices have climbed more than 8% in the last month, driven by economic growth.
Brent crude, the benchmark for oil prices in Europe, rose $1.67, or 1.6%, to $107.43 a barrel.

Nokia's turmoils and subsequent mass layoffs have freed up plenty of smart people in the Finnish workforce to do their own thing. Rovio with Angry Birds, Jolla with Sailfish and now Adaia. The 16-person startup, led by former Nokia employee Heikki Sarajärvi, has revealed that it plans to launch a range of premium Android handsets at some point in 2014 in the US, UK and of course, Finland. By premium, we're looking at anywhere between $1,300 to $6,500, in return for the promise of extra ruggedness and durability as well as potential satellite connectivity. Why Android? Heikki says "there is no alternative," something we assume Stephen Elop would strongly disagree with.
While there are no pictures to share today, local publication Digitoday got a chance to play with a prototype. They say the phone has a 4.8 inch screen and features the ability to hot-swap batteries without needing to turn the device off, though that feature hasn't been fully ironed out yet. One thing that might potentially turn some people off, aside from the exorbitant price, is the phone's weight -- final units are estimated to come in at between 240 and 250 grams, which is 60 grams heavier than even Nokia's tank-like Lumia 920. We've reached out to Adaia to request pictures and more info to find out what's the cause of all that bulk, so stay tuned.

As the outermost layer of skin, epidermis is crucial in forming a permeability barrier and protection against various environmental agents. Thus, investigating the biology of its most important cell type, the keratinocyte, is key to understanding the effects of solar ultraviolet radiation in skin, and helps design effective means of protection against excessive exposure. It has already previously been shown with both cell culture and in vivo animal models that UV irradiation increases the expression of hyaluronan, which is an important carbohydrate of the extracellular matrix. Hyaluronan is also clearly increased in tissue sections from early stage squamous cell carcinomas, one important risk factor of which is exposure to UV radiation.
Hyaluronan metabolism in cells and tissues has long been a special area of interest in the research group of Professors Raija and Markku Tammi at the Institute of Biomedicine, University of Eastern Finland. One important target tissue and focus in these studies has been the skin. In a recent paper published in The Journal of Biological Chemistry, the group demonstrated that already fairly low doses of UVB activate the accumulation and degradation of hyaluronan. This occurs in both simple monolayer cultures of keratinocytes and a stratified, three-dimensional model that mimics normal skin epidermis. As intracellular signalling pathways are activated, the hyaluronan producing enzymes (Has1-3) and hyaluronan synthesis are upregulated. Particularly, it was shown that Has1 and Has2 are regulated by the MAP kinase p38, and Has3 by the calcium-dependent protein kinase CaMKII.
Since hyaluronan content and the absolute and relative quantities and activity of the hyaluronan synthases depend on the tissue context and physiological conditions, it's crucial to understand the underlying regulatory mechanisms. In this study, the significantly upregulated hyaluronan metabolism in the keratinocytes seemed to be dependent specifically on the Has3 enzyme. Blocking its expression with a specific siRNA reversed the UVB-induced hyaluronan production nearly to the level of the control cells. The results thus strongly indicate that epidermal keratinocytes exposed to UVB specifically activate their hyaluronan synthesis by regulating the HAS-enzymes via at least two different signalling pathways. This may be one mode for the cells to adapt to radiation damage.
Even though more research is warranted, the new data further our understanding about the significance of hyaluronan for keratinocyte function under environmental stress. This activation of hyaluronan metabolism after excessive UVB exposure may also prove to be a target for regulation when trying to control and understand tissue malignancy and pre-cancerous alterations.

LIVE VIDEO: Protesters gather in Tahrir Square in downtown Cairo, Egypt.
By Charlene Gubash and Ian Johnston, NBC News
CAIRO - The clock is ticking for Egypt?s President Mohammed Morsi to meet the demands of millions of protesters seeking his ouster and fresh elections after an ultimatum issued to the Islamist leader by his own armed forces.
If Morsi does not meet the demands by Wednesday, the military has said it will impose its own ?road map? for the future.
Morsi rejected the army?s call in a statement issued at 2 a.m. local time Tuesday (8 p.m. Monday ET) by saying his administration would continue on its "previously plotted path" toward reconciliation. Violence during the protests at the weekend saw 16 people killed and hundreds injured.
Barack Obama and the United Nations have each urged Morsi to listen to his people, as a vast crowd gathered once again in Cairo's Tahrir Square Tuesday.
Rupert Colville, a spokesman for the United Nations? High Commissioner for Human Rights, told a briefing Tuesday that they were following the ?extremely tense situation? in Egypt with ?great concern.?
?We urge all political parties and social groups to urgently engage in a serious national dialogue in order to find a solution to the political crisis and prevent an escalation of violence,? Colville said.
?We call on the president of Egypt to listen to the demands and wishes of the Egyptian people, expressed during these huge protests over the past few days, and to address key issues raised by the opposition and civil society in recent months, as well as to heed the lessons of the past in this particularly fragile situation,? he added.
NBC's Richard Engel reports from Cairo, where he says "it feels like a new revolution could be underway" as opponents of Mohammed Morsi are demanding he be removed from the presidency.
He welcomed assurances given by the military and law enforcement agencies that ?no measures will be taken that could lead to excessive use of force against peaceful demonstrators.?
The White House said in a statement Tuesday that Obama had called Morsi on Monday, urging him to listen to ?the voices of all Egyptians.?
Obama told Morsi that the United States was ?committed to the democratic process in Egypt and does not support any single party or group.?
But the president also ?stressed that democracy is about more than elections.?

The headquarters of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood was ransacked as widespread protests against President Mohammed Morsi turned violent.
?It is also about ensuring that the voices of all Egyptians are heard and represented by their government, including the many Egyptians demonstrating throughout the country,? the statement said.
Obama encouraged Morsi ?to take steps to show that he is responsive to their concerns, and underscored that the current crisis can only be resolved through a political process,? it added.
?President Obama also underscored his deep concern about violence during the demonstrations, especially sexual assaults against female citizens,? the White House said. ?He reiterated his belief that all Egyptians protesting should express themselves peacefully, and urged President Morsi to make clear to his supporters that all forms of violence are unacceptable.?
Amid the heightened tensions, the U.S. Embassy in Cairo was closed on Tuesday with regular consular service suspended. It was also closed on Sunday. U.S. citizens were advised to ?avoid areas where large gatherings may occur.?
On June 28, the State Department allowed a ?limited number of non-emergency U.S. government personnel and family members? to leave the country ?due to the ongoing political and social unrest.?
Canada said on Twitter that its embassy in Cairo would be ?closed until further notice for security reasons.?
According to an airport security source, ?a list has been circulated containing the names of 48 leading members of political parties, including the Muslim Brotherhood, who must now inform national security officials before leaving the country. The use of private jets has also been temporarily banned.
It remains unclear whether the Egyptian army was actually calling for Morsi to stand down, or whether it would accept some attempted compromise.
However, a statement issued by Morsi?s office complained said that it was not consulted about the army?s ultimatum and said ?the presidency sees that some of the statements in it carry meanings that could cause confusion in the complex national environment.?
It added that his administration was ?going forward on its previously plotted path to promote comprehensive national reconciliation ... regardless of any statements that deepen divisions between citizens.?
Protesters attacked and stormed the headquarters of the Muslim Brotherhood in Cairo, calling for Egypt's president Mohammed Morsi to step down. NBC's Ayman Mohyeldin reports.
Morsi?s office, discussing the call with Obama, said the U.S. was ?working with the Egyptian leadership elected by the Egyptian people and supports peaceful democratic conditions in Egypt.?
?The president confirmed that Egypt is moving forward in a peaceful democratic transition built on constitution and law,? Morsi?s office said.
It also said that Egypt?s ?democratic, civil, modern state? was ?the most important achievement? of the revolution that deposed former President Hosni Mubarak.
?We will not allow Egypt with all its forces to return backward under any circumstances,? Morsi?s office said. ?Egypt has paid dearly from the blood of its sons and its stability and security and its delayed the path to development, these are the high prices it paid to build a new state. We all chose democratic means as the only safest way to manage our differences of opinion."
Ian Johnston reported from London.

President Obama is casting the $7 billion initiative as part of a new US strategy to move the region forward with development not charity dollars.?

The Power Africa plan is expected to be announced during Mr. Obama?s visit to Cape Town later?Sunday. It follows announcements of new US funds for food security and leadership mentoring schemes for young Africans.?
Taken together, these all signal a shift in US policy that would leave the world?s poorest continent less ?a dependent? or ?a charity case? and more ?a partner,? to use buzzwords that the president has repeated during his visit.?In these times of austerity and sequestration, this new approach to foreign aid ? ?the least popular part of the federal budget,? Obama concedes ? is also cheaper and makes use of innovative joint public-private cash vehicles. ?
This refreshed focus drew on ?the lessons of Nelson Mandela?s life,? the president told reporters on Air Force One?Friday, evoking the man Obama called ?a personal inspiration for me, and an inspiration for the world.??
Mr. Mandela began his fourth week in the hospital?Sunday, struggling to recover from a recurrent lung infection and still in a ?critical but stable? condition.?
His family, and South African President Jacob Zuma, say he has improved from the worst days of last week.
Mandela?s ailing health has overshadowed Obama?s visit to South Africa, but the US president has regularly spoken of links between his new thinking on how to assist Africa and the example set by the anti-apartheid icon.?
?If we focus on what Africa as a continent can do together and what these countries can do when they?re unified, as opposed to when they?re divided by tribe or race or religion, then Africa?s rise will continue,? he said. ?That?s one of the central lessons of what Nelson Mandela accomplished not just as president, but in the struggle to overcome apartheid and his years in prison.?
These are grand words. In reality, the message is simple: With a more hands-off approach, the US wants to help African countries help themselves, under umbrella themes of better food, better businesses, and better governments.?
On the first leg of his trip, in Senegal last week, Obama focused on food security, dwelling on ways that small-scale farmers ? ?essentially small businesspeople,? he said ? can grow more crops to earn more money.?
There, and again in South Africa, he applauded his hosts? democratically elected governments and their institutional reform agendas, and praised Nelson Mandela for stepping down after just one term.?
In Tanzania?Monday, at a round-table for local CEOs, he will talk trade, and add details of the new electricity access initiative at a visit to a power station outside Dar es Salaam.?
Together, the aim of the ?trade not aid? mantra is a goal familiar to many back home in the US: making individuals wealthier and businesses more profitable, in societies that respect laws and thus create confidence for new investors.?
It?s capitalism 101. It opens new markets for American goods, too.?
And ? unlike George W. Bush?s immensely popular but immensely expensive HIV/Aids PEPFAR programme ? Obama?s aid plans come with a relatively cheap price tag for US taxpayers.?
The president is very aware of the dilemmas he faces in winning approval back home to spend dollars overseas.?
?Our foreign aid budget is around 1 percent of our total federal budget. It?s chronically the least popular part of our federal budget,? Obama told reporters.??We?ve got budget constraints back home, which means that we?ve got to come up with new and creative ways to promote development and deliver aid. Every dollar that we?re putting in, we?re getting a huge amount of private-sector dollars.
?If we?re working smarter, the amount of good that we can bring about over the next decade is tremendous.?
There have been some criticisms that Obama?s approach during his week-long African trip, which ends?Wednesday, has been too overtly mercantile.?
Speaking to students in Soweto?Saturday, he drew frowns from some in the audience when he said the US would ?far rather be selling you iPods and planes? then intervening militarily to stop atrocities in Africa.?
In fact, perhaps the area least touched on has been security.?
This is despite US defense engagement in Africa soaring under Obama, with the new United States Africa Command, drones flying over Somalia, Ethiopia, and Mali, and American soldiers on the ground in Uganda.?
Obama has made clear that the ?soft? policies he has been trailing in Senegal and South Africa are, ultimately, designed to lift people out of the kind of poverty and oppression that breeds disenchantment and radicalizes.??
?US-led military engagements in Africa [to combat terrorism] are unsustainable, Obama?s right,? says Andrews Atta-Asamoah, senior researcher at South Africa?s Institute for Security Studies in Pretoria.
?In everything ? military, aid spending, lectures on corruption ? the US has to realize its best chance of achieving what it wants is just to support and complement Africa?s own efforts. On this trip, Obama seems to have got that.?
